Description:
The 5ESS Structured
Mentoring Program (SMP) goal is to facilitate a combination work/training
methodology for targeted technicians. This approach incorporates the best
operational maintenance practices with defined knowledge transfer objectives
without the restrictions of a formal classroom environment. Daily work
assignments drive the mentoring effort with ongoing discussion on key 5ESS
learning topics. This methodology is ideal for 1 – 3 students working with a
5ESS Subject Matter Expert (SME) reducing the amount of lost productivity of
technical staff.

- Hardware Description
- Messages, Commands, and Alarms
- Translations (Recent Change)
- Trunk Units, Analog and Digital
- Miscellaneous Circuits
- Common units, Analog and Digital
- Trouble Locating Procedure (TLP)
- Line Units, Analog and Digital
- Line Testing
Customer Requirements:
Customers must provide 5ESS documentation, SME Central
Office (CO) access and work with the mentor to customize/document key
learning areas specific to the student daily production responsibilities.
Who Can Benefit:
This course is designed for central office technicians
and first level supervision that need a basic understanding of the 5ESS
Switching System.
