Telephony Network Basic Overview is a suit-cased

This course provides the student with an overview of the
Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN).
This course provides an overview of placing a local call,
operation, signaling, the central office, and switches of a
telephony network. The course is broken into 5 lessons.
Learning Objectives:
Lesson 1- Placing local calls, call routing, tandems,
interexchange calls,Interlata calls, in-band/out band signaling,
SS7.
Lesson 2- Operation of the telephone, DC signaling
requirements, AC Signaling, alerting tones.
Lesson 3- Loaded and non-loaded cable pairs, bridge tap,
switching machine types.
Lesson 4- CO, cable vault, distributing frames, DC power
plant, toll area, DSX’s, etc.
Lesson 5- Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS), custom
calling features, switches and non-switched special services.
